Best old timey food in Northern California. A real treasure. You have to get the two soups, and get then MIXED... you won't regret it. Great bread. Amazing pies for dessert. What a find along the great highway coast.

Started with the artichoke heart / green chile soup, which was beyond delicious, before moving to sweet & perfect miyagi oysters then 🦀 legs with drawn butter, finished off with olallieberry 🥧. Heavenly. It's can be a wait to get in if you don't have a reservation so call ahead or just use it as an excuse to check out a few of the cute local shops.

Great warm bread with butter for starters! Mussel soup was a delicious appetizer. I had the abalone sandwich which was good but not great for $25 but now I have tried abalone. I imagine that the calamari sandwich would have been as good for $10 less? Then again we were there for the experience. Best part was taking home the lullaberry? pie!

Ate at counter. Not busy. In bar they also have an off-sale license. Artichoke/ Chile soup outstanding. I got nice basket of French bread. Deep fried calamari had legs and strips and were tender. The shrimp and cheese sandwich was simple but good.

A classic American restaurant as awarded by the James Beard Foundation in 2003. Yummy food and excellent service. The pie supposedly is excellent too but I did not try it.

if your local you know how good this place is the drinks were strong the food was excellent and there's a couple of dishes that you must have when you go just ask anyone they'll tell you. Great watering hole for bikers.

We stopped by because of the high reviews. But the place did not meet our expectations. There were three of us. The two soups were cold, the fish was frozen, the broccoli was tasteless, and the prices were high for the amount of food we got. The atmosphere was unique, but not unique enough for us to go back again.

One of the best old time restaurants in Northern CA. I usually stop by when I am in the area. One of my favorites is the 50/50 artichoke-chili soup and the olallieberry pie (ala mode of course!) I tried fried oysters, grilled snapper and crab sandwich this time around. All fabulous!

There's nothing like a Duarte's bloody mary. Nothing. I've loved this place & was a local for many years. Everyone is happy when they leave. From the drinks at the bar to the entrees served in the dining room or at the bar... & most importantly nor to forget the unbelievable pies made fresh daily, everything is delicious. Friendly, casual or dressed up you'll be dressed appropriately and welcomed. So weather you and/or a large group are looking for breakfast lunch , dinner , or just appetizers & drinks... this iS a wonderful place to stop & check it out. I do recommend calling for a reservation on a weekend, because everyone knows their great.

Great place in Pescadero. Cajun Calamari Steak Sandwich was good and decent price. Many other items were over priced but there fish and chips and clan chowder had good flavor too. The fries were very tasty! We ordered the Ollalieberry (not sure how to spell it) pie for 4th. Looking forward to that!

Good food and atmosphere. There's the restaurant and a separate bar area. The menu is a bit limited but what they do serve is good, especially their pies and other desserts. All meals start with delicious, hot sourdough French bread and butter! This restaurant takes you several decades back in time, housed in an older, all-wood building. It's a nice atmosphere and the service is good. They are closed Tuesdays. It's a tourist place, but the locals like it too. I have dined there numerous times.

We also went to Duarte because of the high reviews We were disappointed. There was a smell and the prices were unexpectedly high. Also, I ordered a sandwich and had to pay extra for fries. Another order in our group wanted a salad substitute for fries and had to pay 5.00 for a side salad. The service was also weak. Forgot to bring my husband his drink I asked for dressing on the side and got it on the salad. My grab melt was too moist and had a fishy taste. If it was so great, I am wondering if there was a new cook in town No one in our group will go back or recommend restaurant.

I could eat Duarte's (pronounced "DOO-erts") cream of green chile soup every week. The hot bread in a basket is to die for. Followed by ollalieberry pie. They actually had made pear pie from a fruiting tree nearby, and it was more delicious than I expected--and I love pears. It looked like apple pie but had the refreshing flavor of pear. Good texture, too. Ultimate comfort foods. Lighting in dining area isn't the greatest. Simple interior decor. Men's and women's restrooms. Street parking. Good seating options for groups.

We arrived at about 3:45PM on a Sunday afternoon. We didn't have reservations and were told we might have to wait 25 minutes or so. We were seated in less than 10 minutes. It seemed kind of busy, I had to park about a block away. It is a few different things: a nice restaurant, a busy fun bar, a local icon and hangout. Inside it is a bit of a maze but that makes charming and obviously not a corporate boring chain. There were two of us, one ordered that french dip and the other the abalone dinner. Both were not just good very good!! The french dip was not only tastey and very tender. The abalone was the best I've had in literally in decades! The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Highly recommended and I want to go back!

The menu is surprisingly elevated for a restaurant in such a small coastal town. All of the fish is super fresh and whatever is available locally and seasonally. Most of the vegetables and fruits come from local farms as well. The bar seems to be unchanged from when this place first opened. All of that is excellent but the thing that everyone comes here for is the olallieberry pie. Get it alamode (ice cream on top) and with two spoons!

If you're driving down Highway 1 in this area, you must stop in Pescadero, and you must drop in at Duarte's Tavern, whether it's to eat a proper meal or get some pie for take out. Reservations are highly recommended, unless you're willing to wait an hour on the weekend.Start with the artichoke soup, then move on to any seafood dish (I recommend snapper and chips), and finish with the olallieberry pie. The tripe dish is also very good. Then you may walk off your food at the cute nearby shops or pet some animals at Harley's Farm. Perfect weekend!

If it's all about the character of the building, the cocktails that are offered and the quirkiness of the overall feel of the restaurant, this place will hit all of the marks. However, if it's about the food, then you might be disappointed. Not that it's bad, but it's not much above average either. Throw in the cost and portion size of their dishes, and then you realize, there are much better choices down highway 1.

Duarte's is a classic seafood diner on the coast that has been around for years and is still a favorite. The food is well made, tasty, and fresh- made with local ingredients, including vegetables from their own garden. Interior is funky and casual. The wait on weekends and holidays can be extremely long as there is not much else in the area of this quality. Prices have risen quite steeply in recent years and service is not as good; although the food quality is pretty much the same.
